Our women at Wormwood this time were Hannah Wells, Ciara Williams, Zoe Dobbs, Kate Shockley, Lynn Hyde, Karen O’Rourke and Melanie Spencer.
Sadly missing due to illness and injury Helen O’Neile, Jen Harvey and Eva Mack who would have made it a super squad to challenge for a trophy but Hillingdon were well represented nonetheless.
Hannah Wells completed the 8km course in 33.50 and secured 10th place and that all important invitation letter to represent the county.
Ciara Williams and Zoe Dobbs both put in fantastic performances; Ciara secured a top 20 place at 19th, 45 seconds behind Hannah in 33.35; Zoe beat her rival Carol Jones from ESM in fine style, finishing in 38th place, 37.43 and just under a minute ahead of Carol.
Our 4th scorer was Kate Shockley, 39th place just 3 seconds behind Zoe in 37.46.
The team came 6th out of 10 clubs.
Our remaining runners all put in good individual performances, Lynn (45th in 38.46), Karen (53rd in 40.39) and Mel (57th in 41.46).
The course was proper heavy sticky mud and thank you to those that tackled the conditions with fantastically good humour, grit and top team spirit. It is wonderful to be part of the HAC xc team – the picture says it all!
