Men’s 6 Stage And Women’s 4 Stage Road Relays, Sutton Park, 04 October

rr2014Hillingdon AC had both men’s and women’s teams competing in these national road relay championships for the first time since 2010 at Sutton Park in Birmingham with the women’s team finishing 46th of 60 teams and the men finishing 53rd of 77 teams.

The women’s race was contested over a 4.32km course and the Hillingdon AC team comprised of Eva Mack (15:53), Hannah Wells (17:43), Andrea Taylor (18:30) and Melanie Spencer (20:41). Eva’s time of 15:53 was the 82nd fastest of the day.

The men’s race was contested over a 5.85km course and the men’s team comprised of Robert Thompson (18:02), James Laing (18:56), Daniel Thompson (20:20), Mike Dooley (21:02), Sam Blanshard (21:00) and Martin Bateman (19:26). Rob’s time of 18:02 was the 60th fastest of the day.

Well done to all the athletes that competed at this event. This was a high quality national championship race and both the men’s and women’s team acquitted themselves well against some of the best athletes in the country.

Age Group Changes

From 1 April 2026, the age groups in which young athletes compete under UKA rules will change from U13, U15, U17 and U20, as is currently the case, to U14, U16, U18 and U20.
