HAC will have 2 club places on offer to club members for the London Marathon on the 3rd October 2021. There will be NO club places available for the 2022 race.
The emphasis for this year will be rewarding “Seed” standard applicants. Places will be awarded again this year by ballot and the draw/s will be at the clubhouse on Thursday 8th July after the Training Race. These places are offered by VLM as a kind of reward to clubs so in turn the seeded applicants will be those that have put a lot into any of the following from club management, coaching, officiating and event organisation in particular during the COVID pandemic.
If for example 5 people apply and only 1 is of “seed” standard then that “seed” will automatically get the place. There will then be a draw for 1 place from the remaining 4 names. If for example there are 5 applications and 3 are of “seed” standard then there will be a Seed draw between the 3 people for the 2 places. If there are no “seed” applications then everyone goes into the draw if there are over 2 applications.
Anyone applying will need to pay the entry costs themselves if drawn from the ballot.
If you are a fully paid/signed up club member and have been for at least 1 year and not previously won a club place in the last 3 years and want to do the marathon please email me, Martin Bateman at by the end of Wednesday 7th July 2021. Please state whether you are looking to be in the Seed or Open draw. The final decision on who goes into each draw category is taken by Martin Bateman.
