The 2025 London Marathon saw 11 Hillingdon Athletic Club finishers. Participants began the race under clear skies, as the day progressed, temperatures reached approximately 20c with light winds. The warm and sunny conditions played a big part in the event, with runners facing unfavourable conditions in contrast to the cool conditions of the 2024 London Marathon. Despite the conditions, there were many fantastic performances!
A huge congratulations goes to Andrew Mansi who completed his 43rd London Marathon in a time of 4:43:50. In doing so, qualifying for a good for age entry, a remarkable achievement!

Elite Women Race Results
Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa set a new women-only world record, finishing in 2:15:50. Her late race surge at 23 miles distanced her from Joyciline Jepkosgei and Sifan Hassan, who placed second and third respectively.

Elite Men Race Results
Kenya’s Sabastian Sawe clinched victory with a time of 2:02:27, narrowly missing the course record. His decisive move came with a blistering 5km split of 13:56 between 30km and 35km, leaving behind competitors like Eliud Kipchoge and Tamirat Tola.

Elite British Race Results
Marathon debutant Eilish McColgan was the first British woman home, finishing 8th in a time of 2:24:25, in doing so setting a new Scottish record by previously set by Steph Twell. Eilish was followed by Rose Harvey who finished in 9th place, in a time of 2:25:01.
Mahamed Mahamed was the first British man home, finishing 9th in a time of 2:08:52. Mahamed was followed by triathlete and London Marathon debutant Alex Yee in a time of 2:11:08.
Wheelchair race results
Swiss athletes dominated, Catherine Debrunner secured the women’s title in 1:34:18, her third London victory, over four minutes quicker than her previous best in London and just two seconds outside her world record time.
