Hillingdon Ladies at Wormwood Scrubs – Metropolitan League Race 2

19 Hillingdon Senior and Veteran ladies ventured down to the ‘Scrubs’ on Saturday on a day where the sunny and warm weather was more suited to a summer track fixture than a mid- November cross country race.

All 19 starters finished this fairly flat 2 lap course and were led home the Paterson twins with Catriona in 16th position, Dr Heather Paterson in 42nd and then the ever-dependable Hannah Wells in 47th position. Top veteran Karmen Pardoe finished in 73rd position followed by former international 800 metre star Michaela Mayor (running four and a half miles out of her comfort zone!!) in 82nd place with Karen O’Rourke completing the A team in 107th position. That gave us 135 points and 8th position on the day out of 12 teams in the top division. We stay in position 7th overall.

The second string was made up Melanie Spencer in 116th, Pauline Fischer in 123rd, Kathryn Carruthers in 136th, Ellie Henderson in 149th and the Zoe Dobbs in 161st. These performances gave us 77 points and 10th position out of twelve teams in division 2 on the day. We drop from 6th to lie 8th overall.

Elise Delrange  (162nd) , Nastaran Sepanj (164th), Caroline Pretty (172nd) and debutant Liz Hutchison (Michaela’s mum!!!!) in 176th position meant we had a full C team and scored 83 points in division 3 but a number of other teams in the same team division scored better and we dropped from 8th to 11th position.

In the Veterans divisions we started without our two fastest Veterans and our A team finished 4th on the day but drop to 5th position in 12 team division 1 and our B team are 11th in the same division following their 10th position today with Vicky Brownlee finishing in 182nd place.

We had three scorers for the 3rd Vets team with Lucy Duncan finishing in 190th, debutant Jenny Laing in 193rd and the guaranteed finisher Angela Duncan in 199th meant we moved up from tenth to ninth position in division 2.

So WELL DONE everyone – a good turnout but other teams were strong too and to progress we need a GREAT turnout at Uxbridge  in 3 weeks time on December 3rd.  Please make EVERY EFFORT to make it to our home fixture
Keep running and stay healthy!!
