Hillingdon Ladies at Trent Park – 11th February 2023          Metropolitan League Race 5

A big thanks to the 14 hardy Hillingdon Senior ladies made the long trip over to Trent Park for the final Met League race of the season.

All 14 starters finished this challenging 2 lap course and were led home by Catriona Paterson in a fine 18th position, Hannah Wells in 33rd position, Nicola Penty-Alvarez (64th) and Karmen Pardoe one position behind in 65th place. Mel Spencer was 91st and the first team was completed by Zoe Dobbs in 93rd. That gave us 164 points and a 9th position on the day out of 12 teams in the top division. We finish the season in a comfortable 6th place.

The second string was made up Elise Delrange in 100th, Pauline Fischer (104th), Stephanie Suntong in 114th, Nastarn Sepanj (141st) and Caroline Pretty just behind in 142nd These performances gave us 68 points and 7th position out of twelve teams in division 2. Again we finish the season in a comfortable 6th place

Vicky Brownlee (149th) , Lucy Duncan (159th) and the ever dependable Angela Duncan in 161st meant our C team scored 14 points in division 3 and finished 12th out of 16 teams. We finished the season in 9th place.

In the Veterans divisions our top Veterans team finished a good 5th on the day and ended the season a very creditable 4th in 12 team division 1.

Sadly whilst we had enough numbers for a full B team, other clubs turned out with strong squads for this last fixture and our second team ended 11th on the day and finished in the same position in the 12 team division and are thus relegated. A disappointing end to the season following a fine promotion last season after some hard work, good turnouts, and a lot of enthusiasm from our Veteran ladies last year. We have the potential for our B team to rejoin the first team in the top division but it will need more commitment and better turnouts next season.

Angela’s fine point for the third vets team and being the only scorer means we finish in tenth position in 12 team division 2, just one place above the two relegation places and again, a finish far below last year’s achievement.

So WELL DONE and thanks to everyone who turned out this season and have a good break from Cross Country for a few months. The new season starts in October!!!!!!

Keep running and stay healthy!!
