A Fist Full of FIRSTS

HAC-Winning_team_Horsenden_HillMore good news for the ladies that graced the mud at Horsenden Hill on Saturday reports Donna Nash.
Aside from Stacey Ward’s winning performance, the scoring ‘A’ team comprising Stacey (1st place in 23.10 on her thirty FIRST birthday), Helen O’Neile (21st place in 25.36), Hannah Wells (31st place in 26.35), Eva Mack (39th place in 27.05) and Ciara Williams (55th place in 27.51) secured a FIRST team place and we are currently sitting in 2nd place in division 3.
Our Vets secured a 2nd team spot – Zoe Dobbs (88th in 29.36), Lynn Hyde (111th in 30.29), Karen O’Rourke (124th in 31.34) & Lesley Conway 139th in 32.43 – just 2 points behind the winners and remain in FIRST place in the Vets division 2.
Helen makes her first appearance for cross country this season and made a significant contribution, filling the gap left by an injured Jen Harvey.
Jackie O’Dowd also made her first appearance this season and put in an excellent performance having just returned from injury.
I thought this time we might have had a FIRST and LAST place but Angela Duncan impressed yet again and crossed the finish line in 186th spot out of a field of 187 – almost 3 minutes ahead of the last place lady some 30 years Angela’s junior. Of course, Angela got FIRST V75!
Solid performances also from one of our newest members, Alex Longton (85th on 29.20), and from Kate Shockley (77th in 29.09).
Thanks to everyone that attended, including the remainder of the squad, Melanie Spencer, Lyndsey Browne and Katherine Wells.
We have a FIRST class team with the winning team spirit, second to none AND we have a real chance of ALL of our teams being promoted next season (A team Division 2 to Div 1; B Team Div 3 to Div 2; Vets Dic 2 to Div 1! That would be a FIRST CLASS finish.
All to aim for at Ally Pally! 13th February – no excuses – FULL squad needed!
