Young Hillingdon AC athletes turned out for the Met League race at Wormwood Scrubs despite preparing for the big race at home in the Middlesex Championships the following weekend.
While many of the club’s young athletes held back their best form to save themselves for the home fixture of the Middlesex Championships, a decent turnout still represented the team at race 3 of the Met League at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday.
Athletes competed across five age groups with varying distances: under 11s ran just under 2km, under 13s covered 2.8km, and junior men and women tackled a 4.3km course.
In the male under 11 race, Johnny Campbell finished strongly in 10th place, with Mattia Scialpi close behind in 16th. The female under 11s delivered a standout performance from Betty Fitzgerald, who finished just outside the podium in 4th, supported by Yashvi Gorasia (31st) and Bathsheba Nnoko Nnoko (36th).
The male under 13 category saw Wilbur Sanders lead the club’s contingent in 25th, followed by Noah Jones (30th), Finlay Kybert (32nd), Thomas Owen (39th) and Kacey Rico McCalmon (44th). For the female under 13s, the two Annas impressed – Anna Knight took 13th place and Anna Fear finished 19th.
In the junior men’s section, Jack Kerr was first home for the club in 46th, with Lewis Wake (51st), Joseph Holmes (56th), Alexander Farley (70th) and Alistair Burton (72nd) completing the line-up. The junior women’s race featured Elsie Fitzgerald in 11th and Gia Devi Patel hot on her heels in 12th, alongside Edey Kestell (21st), Thea Lewis (28th), Ada Mitchell (36th), Amariah Odogwu (46th), Ganieve Juttla (48th), Maya Kelly (50th) and Naiyana Patel (53rd)

Our senior women team saw 16 athletes compete on the day.
Hannah Laing was the first HAC athlete home (33rd), with Nicola Penty-Alvarez (55th), Katie Newman (71st), Aoife Moss (77th) and Kirsty O’Rourke (90th) all finishing inside the top 100 places. Caroline Ford (101st) rounded off the A Team scoring.
Shortly following Caroline was Melanie Spencer (103rd), Aimee Horn (118th), Karen O’Rourke (127th), Zoe Dobbs (133rd), Katie Saha (141st) and Stephanie Suntong (146th), rounding off the scoring for the B Team.
Chao Cox led the way for the C Team (153rd), with Louise Sautschak (159th), Ruth Costello (163rd) and Andrea Capera Patino (184th) all scoring points.

24 senior men made the trip to Wormwood Scrubs to contest in the 3rd Met League fixture of the season. Kirk O’Rourke, continuing his fine form was the 1st Hillingdon AC athlete home (41st), with James Laing (45th) and Rob Thompson (49th) all scoring inside the top 50!
Will Mifsud snuck inside the top 100 places (99th), with Dan Thompson (126th), Jack Chubb (133rd), Neal Kirkham (146th), Guy Green (158th), Zakariya Bhatti (160th), Dean Clark (180th), Paul Williams (236th) and Adam Laing (250th) completing the scoring for the A Team.
Scott Farley (264th) led the B Team home, followed by Steve Hirons (276th), Sam Hurley (285th), Richard Jenkin (313rd), Alan Tilly (315th), Chris Marchand (338rd), Deepak Pandiyarajan (342rd), Steven O’Keefe (345th), Paul McCay (354th) and Michael Illing (356th) completing the B Team scoring.
Trevor Steeples (366th) and John Doyle (371st) the sole scorers in the C Team.
