Queen Of The Suburbs

HAC get first & second in the 25km trail race!

The London Borough of Ealing is known as the β€˜Queen of the Suburbs’ – an area that was easily reached from Central London on public transport but with the feeling of being in, or close to the countryside.

The Queen of the Suburbs Ultra is a lockdown legacy. Back in 2020 and 2021 when in-person events were not possible, the challenge was set of running in each one of Ealing’s stunning parks and green spaces – the Queen of the Suburbs Challenge, a virtual event.

Some participants decided to run to and between many of the parks, clocking up significant distances. The idea of an ultramarathon entirely within the Borough of Ealing was born. The first Queen of the Suburbs Ultra was Saturday 23 March 2024.

So on Saturday 22nd March 2025 the second Queen of the Suburbs Ultra took place. A ultra race of 50km and a trail race of 25km.Β  Having won the first trail race in 2024, Hillingdon Athletic Club’s Nicola Penty-Alvarez (Nikki) took up the challenge to run 2025 trail race. This year she was joined by fellow HAC athlete Patrick Griffin.

In a time of 1 hour 58 minutes and 12 seconds Nikki was once again first person to finish. She was closely followed by Patrick in second place in a time of 1 hour 58 minutes and 55 seconds,

πŸŽ‰Well done, both of you!πŸŽ‰

What’s next for 2026?

Will Nikki try to make it 3 in a row?

Will other Hillingdon athletes take part with the aim of trying to get a clean sweep of the medals?
