It was another busy weekend for our senior and veteran athletes that represented the club at the Women’s national 4 stage road relays and at the Middlesex 10K road champs.
For the first time, in a very long while, or possibly ever, Hillingdon AC finished 2 teams at the Women’s national 4 stage road relays, in Sutton Coldfield on Saturday 3rd October. Zoe Dobbs V45, Lynn Hyde V40, Karen O’Rouke V50 and Ciara Williams SW who all competed at the Southern’s 2 weeks previous were joined by Eva Mack SW, Mel Spencer V35 and Hannah Wells, U23.
Over the 4.35km undulating parkland course on a grey and chilly day the A team of Eva 16.06, Hannah, 17.26, Ciara, 17.42 and Lynn, 18.50 put in a sterling effort to claim 44th from 68 teams that finished. Their combinded time of 1:10.04 was over 2 minutes faster than our A team last year. For the B team Zoe, 19.04, Karen, 19.05, Mel, 19.59 and Hannah, who filled in for a withdrawal, 18.55 did everyone proud to finish 60th against some strong competition.

In the Middlesex 10K on Sunday it was the turn of us men to do a bit of racing. On a bright and crisp morning in Victoria Park, East London 10 HAC men took on the challenge to defend our title, however with a weaker top end than last year it was always wishful thinking we could repeat that feat. James Laing put in the outstanding performance finishing 3rd overall and 2nd in the Middlesex category with a personal best performance of 32.00 exactly. At the time of writing team prizes have not been announced.
