In these dark evening sessions, it’s important to wear high-visibility (hi-vis) clothing whilst running. We require all runners taking part in our evening training sessions over the winter to wear hi-vis clothing. Here are some of our top tips to stay safe when running at night:
Wear Hi-Vis Clothing: Choose bright, reflective gear to increase your visibility to drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Reflective vests, jackets, or running shoes with reflective strips work best.
Use Reflective Accessories: Consider adding reflective wristbands, ankle straps, or a belt to ensure you’re seen from all angles.
Wear Lights: A headtorch helps you see obstacles ahead while clip-on lights or LED armbands make you visible to others. A blinking light on your back also enhances visibility from behind.
Follow Traffic Rules: Obey all traffic signals, cross at designated areas, and always assume drivers may not see you, especially at intersections.
