HAC team at Peterborough

Sunny and steadily more blustery conditions greeted the HAC team in Peterborough. The home side, who had won their first fixture cleared up with a total of 214. Which left the team battling the Vale of Aylesbury for second.

It came down to the 4 X 4’s with HAC lying 3rd by 3 points. The ladies beat V of A to 2nd, reducing the deficit to 2. The men needed to win and V of A come 3rd to draw. The men smashed the field coming home with a good 50m lead. Unfortunately Orion Harriers couldn’t hang on and V of A came 2nd by one match point with 191.

Alex Duguay Put in a confident performance to come home 1st in the 400m hurdles with a PB 58.1 seconds. The sprinters continued the PB’s in the flat 4 ‘B’ with Michael “jelly legs” Kendall wobbling over the line in 52.1 just being pipped by Peterborough.

Phil Hindley had a busy day in the field and was rewarded with 2.20m vault in his debut at pole vault. Michael Church, also busily flitting to and from events recorded his second league win with a throw of 47 dead in the Jav.

There were double wins in the 1500m for myself and Hannah Wells and in the 4 hurdles for Claire Tompset and Rachel Blackburn. There was also a double PB in the ladies 4 flat for Georgie and myself. Rachel also had wins in the 200m ‘B’ and Jav ‘B’ with Julie winning the hammer.

Christine Heemskirk gave a last minute push in the 3K with 150m to go breezing past her opponent and showing her track pedigree.
