South of England Athletics Association Cross Country Relays – Wormwood Scrubs 18/10/25
The team took part in the South of England Athletics Association Cross Country Relays held at Wormwood Scrubs, with each runner completing a 3km leg over a fast and but technical course. Conditions were bone dry and uneven, with rutted woodland paths, woodchip sections, and a gradual incline adding to the challenge.
Team 322:
Leg A: Zoe Dobbs – 13:30
Leg B: Ruth Costello – 14:25
Leg C: Melanie Spencer – 12:36
The team recorded a total time of 40:33, finishing 28th out of 33 complete teams.
It was a strong effort from all three athletes, who were a lot older than there other counterparts with Melanie and Zoe recording a faster individual time than in last year’s relay — and Ruth returning from injury an encouraging result on a tough course. There was great team spirit throughout the afternoon and thanks to the organisers and volunteers for hosting a well-run and enjoyable event.
No prisoners taken at wormwood scrubs
HAC’s senior men took no prisoners at the South of England Cross Country relays as Kirk O’Rourke continued his fine run of form to claim fastest leg of the HAC senior men. With the cross country season now well underway, conditions were anything but cross country with supershoes being the preferred footwear of choice over the very firm 4.15km course. Hillingdon again took two teams to the relays with the A team finishing a very credible 8th and the formidable duo of “Big Jeff” and “on the ockey” Stef rounding out the B team.
A team (8th):
Elisha De Mello 13:18
Kirk O’Rourke 13:11
Will Mifsud 14:19
Rob Thompson 13:32
B Team (25th):
Guy Green 15:19
Dan Thompson 14:55
Jeff Shotton 16:21
Stevan Dokic 21:36
