Senior Women‘s fifth race, Metropolitan League,Wormwood Scrubs, 8 February 2014

Hillingdon senior women’s cross country team secured once again their sixth position in the ATW Metropolitan League Division Two with the regular two seniors finishing near the top of the field and stalwart veteran support in the bottom half.

The veteran’s team although finishing ninth of the ten teams in this race, finish the season in eighth position in their Division One, which means they stay in Division One, justifying their promotion last year.

With the Scrubs fields at their wet and muddy best, Hannah Wells was Hillingdon’s first finisher for the second time this season, in 38th place, ahead by 26 seconds of Eva Mack in 40th, the first scorer for the club in the first two races.

These two top rivals also gained an individual ranking of 19th and 21st respectively in the ATW cross country race series, which is credit to their regular participation and consistently good performances.

Lesley Conway (V55) in 91st place ran a steady race at Wormwood Scrubs, finishing 37 secs in front of Donna Nash (V45) who was 101st. Pauline Fischer (V55) finished 116th just 15 seconds ahead of Sue Dyke (V45) in 119th place, the latter returning to cross country running from injury. Maria Hernandez Humm (V45) completed her first cross country season in 142nd place.
