A week after racing at Kingsbury in the Liddiard Throphy fixture many of the same clubs and athletes, plus a few extra, returned to the same venue for the North London XC Championships.

For a bit of variety the race route was run in reverse but the ground was as hard and fast for fun racing as it was the week previous. Hillingdon had another very good turnout, once again with the biggest turnout in the men’s race with 22 finishers. However, with only 6 to score we couldn’t match the top scorers of the opposition and came 4th “A” team, 3rd “B” team and 3rd “C” team. Highgate won the main prize.  In the veterans points we were 4th “A”, 4th “B” and 2nd “C” teams with Barnet and District claiming first prize.

Henry Dodwell, Highgate H, won the men’s trophy for a third consecutive year in 25.11 mins, 2nd was Orlando Edwards, SBH, in 25.17 mins and Jim Cooper of Harrow was 3rd in 25.22 mins over approximatley 8km. The first 6 HAC men were 6th Martin Bateman, 10th Robert Thompson, 18th Sam Blanshard, 28th Scott Farley, 35th (11th Vet) Richard Jenkin and 47th (14th Vet)  Simon Claridge.

In the women’s race over 6km we had one competitor. Margaret Ryan scored as a guest but was the 33rd woman to cross the finish line. Jo Singer of VP&TH won the race with London Heathside winning the team award.
