New Forest 10

4th place for Hillingdon athlete out of 775 finishers at New Forest 10 mile race reports Alan Wells
In temperatures nudging 30 degrees on Sunday, Hillingdon were represented by James Laing,  Alan Wells and Hannah Wells at  the New Forest 10. This is a very well organised race of 10 miles run on a mix of forest tracks and closed roads through most beautiful scenery.
James running his longest ever competitive race as expected was the first Hillingdon athlete home. James ran with the  winner in a race of 775 finishers until half  way, before dropping off the pace  to finish 4th in a time of 58:30; the race being won in 56:49. Hannah finished in 1:23:42 which was 206th ( 36th women) , whilst Alan suffering with the heat came in 633rd in 1:51:48. Results here.
The only wish of all three was that the temperature  could have been a  few degrees cooler.
The New Forest 10  is the  main summer event  staged  by New Forest Runners who also organise the normally over subscribed New Forest Half and Full Marathon in the autumn.
