Paul Drane

I am sorry to have to let you know the very sad news that Paul Drane has passed away. Paul joined Hillingdon AC in 1982 and as well as being a competitive athlete he managed the boys young athletes track, road and cross country teams for 10 years. Paul was also Club President. Ten years ago he and his wife Wendy moved to West Sussex but both continued to follow the club’s progress and stay in contact with athletes that they once trained.

For those who knew Paul and would like to celebrate his life at his burial ceremony the details are as follows:

Friday 20th May, 11:00, Clayton Wood Natural Burial Ground, Brighton Road, Clayton, West Sussex, BN6 9PD

Paul’s great love of the outdoors makes it fitting that his final resting place is in a beautiful countryside setting. Please feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in (black is optional), but as part of the service will be outside you may want to wear outdoor shoes and bring an umbrella in case of rain.

Donations to the Stroke Association would be welcomed as an alternative to flowers (details for payment below), or you could bring a single flower to leave under the tree where we will be burying Paul’s ashes. Due to the organic nature of the burial ground, if you did want to bring flowers they need to be free from any cellophane or ribbon, or anything that’s not biodegradable.

The wake will be held approximately a 20 minute drive from the burial ground and everyone is welcome, from 12:00 until 3:30. Address and contact details are available from Dave Smith.

Please let Wendy and family know if you will be joining them.

Donations. Cheques made payable to The Stroke Association are sent c/o Masters & Son, Lewes Road, Lindfield RH16 2LE. Or made via BACS to our charity account: Masters & Son Charity Account: 40535575 Sort code: 20 49 76.
