Middlesex Cross Country Champs – Senior Men, Parliament Hill, 21/01/2023

Hillingdon AC’s senior men finished eighth in the six to score team race at the Middlesex Cross Country Championships at an icy and challenging Parliament Hill.

With parts of the course frozen and parts of the course wet and muddy, there was something for everyone as the men’s team contested the 7.5 mile course on a cold but sunny winter’s day at Parliament Hill. James Laing was first scorer for the club in 25th place after he decided to race sensibly over parts of the course in order to avoid a recurrence of the ankle injury that has limited his races this season.

Behind James, Dan Thompson finished 40th, Guy Green 63rd, Paul Leppard 90th, Dave Knight 97th and Jeff Shotton 98th as Hillingdon AC finished the scoring six in the first 100 places, while Chris Marchand (120th), Martin Searle (127th) and Trevor Steeples (134th) completed the clubs participation in the centennial Middlesex men’s race.

Finn Coombe was the club’s sole participant in the Under 20 men’s race where he finished eighth.
