Metropolitan League, Wormwood Scrubs, 07 February 2015

Hillingdon AC’s Senior Men’s team had a day to forget at the final Met League fixture of the season as with only 22 athletes turning up to compete, and large gaps between the A and B team scorers, the A team finished eighth on the day in Division One and the B team finished ninth in Division Three.

As a result, the A team slipped to their lowest position of the season of seventh in Division One and the B team, who still had an outside chance of promotion going into this fixture, also slipped to their lowest position of the season of fifth.

James Laing was first scorer for the club in 14th place, not far in front of Martin Bateman who found the firm underfoot conditions to his liking to finish 27th. Dan Thompson ran despite being in discomfort due to muscle stiffness, Philip Warburton had a good run to just finish 71st, just in front of teammate Simon Connell while there were competitive returns for Sam Blanshard, Chris Ingram and Rob Poulter. Alex Ozdemir was the 12th and final scorer for the A team in 239th place.

Andrew Malyan was the first scorer for the B team in 271st place whilst there were Met League debuts for Stuart Arundel and Barry Brown. Dennis Carey was the eighth and final scorer for the B team in 363rd place.
