Metropolitan League Race One, Woodford, 19 October 2013

Hillingdon AC’s senior men had a strong turnout of athletes at the first Metropolitan League cross country race of the season at Woodford with 28 athletes answering the call to compete.

Although the team only finished four scorers in the top 100 with Robert Thompson first scorer in 14th place, James Laing in 33rd, Ed Campbell third in 99th and Dean Clark in 100th place, after Dean the scorers came thick and fast, closing out the scoring 12 for the A team with Dave Newman in 181st position and completing the eight scorers for the B team in the next 47 places with Andrew Patterson in 227th.

The result saw the A team finish eighth in Division One and the B team finish second in Division Three and there were many positives to take from the teams’ performance with Chris Woolley, Mike Dooley, Alex Ozdemir, Dominic Speight, Andy Torrance and James Davis all making their Met League debuts and Andrew Patterson making a welcome return to competitive action after many years.
