An individual third place for Mohamed Mohamed helped Hillingdon AC’s Senior Men’s A team finish in sixth place in Division One on a wet and windy day at Stevenage.

With athletes experiencing soft underfoot conditions for the first time this season and a “long” course of 5.6 miles, it was a race of attrition for the 41 senior men who travelled to Stevenage to represent the club.

The performance of the A team was boosted by strong individual runs from Mohamed Mohamed (third), Abdishakuv Nageeye (25th), James Laing (35th) the return of Rob Thompson (41st) and Martin Bateman who found the conditions to his liking, finishing 61st.

Joel Pope, who was making his club debut, was the final scorer the A team in 197th place as he finished just in front of  clubmate Philip Warburton (204th). Behind Philip, the B team finished their eight scorers within 100 places with Andrew Malyan the final B team scorer in 303rd position whilst Jeremy Collis (275th) just got the better of training partners Mat Taylor (290th) and Gary Horn (293rd) as the B team finished 5th in Division Three.

Elsewhere, there were club debuts for Rik Karadir (317th) and Simon Perks (438th).

This result mean’s that the A team now sit fifth in Division One after two fixtures whilst the B team have moved up to third place in Division Three.
