An individual tenth place from James Laing helped Hillingdon AC’s Senior Men’s team to finish eighth at the London Cross Country Championships on a wet day at Parliament Hill Fields.
With incessant rain for the duration, that caused every athlete to lose their race number by the end and increasingly muddy conditions underfoot, Abdi Shar (25th), Simon Connell (67th) and Alex Ozdemir (80th) made up Hillingdon AC’s scoring four in the team competition.
The race was won by Chris Smith of TVH, with Serpentine, Hercules Wimbledon and Highgate Harriers taking the honours in the team race. In total, Hillingdon AC had 16 men racing in these championships and the reminder of the finishers were P Leppard (109), G Wood (146), J Pope (158), J Collis (185), G Horn (208), D Spinks (255), M Searle (310), T Steeples (316), J Luscombe (322), R Burton (326), J Bignell (329) and A Wells (353). There were 353 finishers.
