Fraternity & Sorority Cups, Trent Park, 03 December 2011

Hillingdon AC’s men team finished third at the Fraternity Cup at Cockfosters behind Barnet & District and Ealing, Southall & Middlesex thanks to the return of Carl Yates, Dan Rowe and Andy Miles to competitive action.

Hillingdon athletes Dan Thompson and Carl Yates were to the fore from the beginning of the race as they took up early positions in third and fourth place from the off behind James Trapmore and eventual race winner Henry Dodwell.
Although  Carl began to suffer from not racing recently, he stuck to his task to finish 12th while Dan paced his effort to finish fifth.
Simon Claridge just held off Steve Hirons at the finish as the pair finished 27th and 28th with Dan Rowe only slightly behind in 30th while Andy Miles marked his return to competition by filling the sixth scoring position for the A team in 46th place.
The men’s B team finished 11th overall and second B team behind host club Barnet & District thanks to Dave Martin (53rd), Stevan Dokic (57th), John Bignell (60th), John Myall (82nd), Steve Thompson (106th) and Brian Feldman (107th). Alan Wells (111th) and Mick Miller (113th) also competed.
Hannah Wells, Leslie Conway and Jo Miles were in action for the women in the Sorority Cup, with Hannah finishing 80th (12th woman), Leslie 94th (18th woman) and Jo 115th (26th woman). Lacking a fourth scorer for the team competition, they finished fifth team on countback.
