Coombe Hill, 02 June 2013

Hillingdon AC made it back to back wins in the 2013 Summer Series as the Men’s team won the team prize at Coombe Hill thanks to Martin Bateman, Daren Roscoe, Paul Leppard and Dave Newman, with Martin finishing third in the individual race and Dave picking up a prize as first Vet 50.

Despite the race starting three minutes early, leaving a number of athletes still some way from the start line when the hooter sounded, Hillingdon AC prevailed on the testing 5.5km Coombe Hill course on a warm summer’s morning in Wendover.

The race course sees athletes run from Wendover High Street up to the Monument at the top of Coombe Hill, then descending down a steep gully and once again climbing up to the Monument from the other side of the hill before a final downhill stretch to finish near the High Street.

Hillingdon AC had a strong turnout with at least twelve athletes completing the race while many runners choose to stay in Wendover afterwards to enjoy the summery conditions and the hospitality of the race sponsors, The Shoulder Of Mutton.
