Angel Doyle completes her first Pentathlon

On the 16th December I experienced my first pentathlon, reports Angel Doyle. A Pentathlon is an athletic event comprising of five different events for each competitor. As I’m u15 first year my events were 60 metre Hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Putt and 800 metres. The athletics event was placed at Lee Valley aAhletics Centre indoor track. My first event was Hurdles and I ran 11.81, it wasn’t the best of times but it was decent for myself. Then about a hour later I had High Jump and that went pretty cool – I jumped 1 metre 33 and that was a massive pb. My third event was Shot Putt and I threw 7 metres 31 for a new weight of a shot putt because I’ve moved up an age group and it’s 3kg. My 4th event about half and hour after was long jump…well that didn’t go too well I had 2 no jumps and 1 terrible jump but I was getting really tired. My last and final event was the 800 metres my favourite event and I won my race and ran the time of 2 minutes 44 secs.

My total score of points of the Pentathlon was 1890 and I’m ranked 119th in the country and I’m really proud of myself. I could of done better but there’s always next time.

I just wanted to also say a massive thank you to my coach Roy Feaviour. He’s helped me a lot and taught me a lot of new drills and different techniques in training but a massive thank you to Lorraine Kingston for helping me get through the tough day and having a good mother to support me. I’m looking forward to next track season and I hope everyone else has a good season next!!

Thank you Hillingdon AC your’e an amazing club!
